A Moment To Reflect

October 30, 2010

I am sitting here on a Saturday finally with no plans but to reflect on God and the beauty of His creations.  The fall leaves outside are so magnificent, the reds, yellows and oranges of fall are amazing but only last a short time.  I am looking out the window and thinking soon it will all be covered with snow! I believe that God gave us the seasons to show us that change is not bad, people get so worked up over change, we like things to stay comfortable and God wants us out of our comfort zone.  When I look at the seasons, my favorite is summer, but I love the change in the season sometimes I just do not like winter to last so long.  God wants us to be comfortable in every season.  In our life we will have many changes, some will be great, some will be fantastic and others will be sad.  Remember you can not go around your change you can only conquer it by going through it, so go through it knowing God is there with you! Blessings on this beautiful Autumn day!   KAT

WISDOM

"For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength"   1CORINTHIANS 1:25

WOW!  No matter how strong or wise we think we are on our own, God's strength and wisdom is always much more than we can fathom. Sometimes when I am weary and I just can't seem to understand things instead of turning to His Word or getting on my knees to pray, I think I can work it out on my own.  How ridiculous!  When you rely on your own strength and wisdom and not God's you fall over and over again, the funny thing is, I continue to repeat this cycle.  1Corinthians 1:18-31 teaches us about God's wisdom and strength and that God is totally in control. Sometimes I need to humble myself and ask God for guidance and realize He has all the answers.  In 1Corinthians 1:30 it says; "it is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption."

I just started a Bible Study called:  Digging into God's Word, the Bible in a year and this is just what I needed to get me into the word and to rely on His strength!       AMEN!

THE POWER OF THE TONGUE - MARCH 27, 2010

In Proverbs 18:21 it says: "The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Isn't that true! Have you ever said to yourself, "I can't believe I just said that?" Unfortunately there are times when we regret words that we have spoken in haste, without thought to the harm our words might cause to another. Do you want your words to bless and encourage or hurt and belittle? In Proverbs it says "The words of a man's mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook." Reach for the fountain, reach for the water of life in the word of God! Proverbs 18:6-8 it says, A fool's lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool's mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts."  When we gossip about someone we hurt that persons heart and it leaves a permanent hole.
James 3 - Taming the tongue
"Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water."

Today in the 40 day revolution we are asked to pray in every room of our houses and work places, I especially pray for the forgiveness of hurtful words in any of these rooms. I want to dedicate Joshua 24:15 to all our homes and work places;  "BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD."
Blessings,
Kathye

PRAY!

Good Morning! I was sitting here reading a book by Jentezen Franklin and he quoted a verse from
2 Chronicles 7:14-15

"If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place."
Prayer is the most powerful thing we can do as children of God! God hears our prayers and when we seek his face and glorify him in our prayers and in our lives we are obedient to God. Prayer keeps us holy, keeps us seeking him, keeps us from our wicked ways. When we put down prayer we let satan in. Now when we are united as a church and pray this is even more powerful! When we walk together in unity we become a strong church, an undivided church, a church where the people can preach the good news of Jesus Christ. Share this encouragment with someone else, share the good news with a friend, share Jesus with your family, your facebook friends, your co-workers, humble yourselves and talk about God to everyone you come in contact with. Pray continually!  Blessings, Kathye
